A branch community from Dragonspam
I spoke with glitchums, who created this community, and she has lost internet for the last year and a half. Both of us have had things to do IRL so no, we haven't been active for a year or more. My apologies everyone. But glitchums did not give ANY MOD, such as awry permission to lift the lj-cut rules. If she had, the rules on the userinfo page would have also been changed. dragonspam2 has over twice the number of members that it was supposed to have. glitchums will be getting a new computer and internet access hopefully within the next week. If she comes over to my house tonight, I'll have her post something to all of you active members. We don't want to lose the community, so inactive members will be deleted and all active members please stay. If the number of dragonspam2 community members decreases, I will talk to glitchums about formally changing the rules so no lj-cuts will be required. The community will be a closed membership shortly. Please be a bit patient with glitchums and I, scruffy765 as we try to improve the dragonspam2 community for all of us. The biggest problem is that having so many sprites on one page takes a long time to load. I don't know how to change things immediately to help the community. I am not trying to upset anybody but when I came back to dragonspam2 and looked, I asked glitchums about it and she didn't know who had given permission to stop using lj-cuts. I was told to post the rules, so I did. We will make some modifications soon so it will be easier for all members here. Thank you to all who don't get upset with any mod, as ANY disrespect to a mod is immediate banning. Please leave any questions you have, inquiries, etc. in a comment to this post. Thank you all for your patient cooperation.

Are you giving any consideration to the fact that awry is the ONLY mod who has been active in the community since August 2009? Or that she did attempt to contact the community founders - with no response - before she made her post in July?

(And as regards your "everyone chill out" post: all I have seen has been calm, rational discourse thus far. We're disappointed in the way this has been handled, yes, but nobody's gone for the pitchforks and torches.)

Apparently not as they couldn't be bothered to pm me now.

I've been the only active mod for over a year. The activity dropped and people just weren't getting the views or clicks. I did pm another mod who had at one point been active but got no response back. I did not pm glitchums because by her journal she'd not updated in at least a year. But thank you for coming back. I've got enough to deal with elsewhere than stuff like this.

Can I just ask how you're going to define "inactive"? I haven't posted my dragons here in some time because they get all the attention they need without taking attention from the other people who do post here. However, I do click everything that's posted, every day, so I'm far from inactive. :D

Also, I would point out that the "problem" with reduced posting is also happening on dragonspam where there are currently less than 20 posts per day in spite of a membership of over 2000. Fine, none of the mods there relaxed a rule, but awry did what she thought best for the community at a time when NOBODY else on the Mod list was either active or, apparently, communicative. Fine, her initiative was unappreciated, to say the least, but at least she was HERE, and AVAILABLE and did SOMETHING for the members of the community. I think the subsequent treatment of her by the community maintainer is grossly unfair and I, too, will be banning myself. After all, you want to get numbers down so that the only people who will lose out will be the members who actually post their sprites here hoping for clicks.

No community will work if it falls into inactivity, no matter how much the rules are enforced and, with a maintainer as unpleasant as this one seems to be, I fear the death knell won't be long in coming. We had a mod who tried to increase traffic and interest and look at the thanks SHE got!

Agreeing with the 'what about people who click without posting their own..?'
